This has been a week of series of tremendous changes and leaps of faith. i am left breathless with the effort and change.
i finally re-released a huge amount of poetry originally recorded for podcasts between 2009 and 2011. You can listen to them on my website. These recordings are fairly terrible, given the state of the technology i had at the time, but they were a first step. As i’ve written so many times this week – poetry to me is primarily an oral art. i have read and enjoyed so many different poets, but when i watch poetry performed the words take on an amazing quality.
For some reason, it has been much easier to be fearless about pottery and even painting. They have taken a huge amount of time and energy, which has never bothered me. i adore these aspects of my job. However, poetry is the medium that i cannot live without. i am constantly scribbling during any quiet moments that come to me. Before bed, when i wake up, during meals, even waiting in line i am apt to pull the pad and paper out of my purse and start a verse.
When i have performed my poems, the experience left me overjoyed and energized. With luck, this Kickstarter will help me do the second best – recorded performances. i hope to include he work of other poets as well – there have been people here who knocked my socks off when i heard them perform. So, i took a leap forward and launched the campaign. It might work, it might not.
Either way, it feels good and right in my spirit to recommit myself to poetry.
